Dear City Manager and Staff,
My husband and I just found out that ALL residents and businesses in Bozeman are going to have a
surcharge placed on our water/sewer bill. Please see this chart:
Single Family and Low Income Residential Stage 2 Drought Surcharges
Tier 1 (0-6 HCF used) 10%
Tier 2 (6-25 HCF used) 47.0%
Tier 3 (25-55 HCF used) 47.2%
Tier 4 (55 HCF & over used) 47.2%
Multi-Family Residential 19%
Government 25%
MSU 16.3%
Commercial 25%
Industrial 11.1%
It appears (percentage wise), the single family homeowners are bearing the major brunt of this surcharge.
Where is the surcharge for the developers who are building the new homes/condos/apartments when we
don't have enough water for the current residents?. Back in the spring when we residents of Meadow
Creek were protesting the building of Buffalo Run, the water pressure issue was consistently brought up.
Our concerns about water were dismissed and the developer got his way.
WHY is the City continuing to approve new building when we don't have enough water?
WHERE is the surcharge money going? Are WE paying for new water resources for the FUTURE
development?
