Hi there, Attached please find a complaint letter regarding a meeting tomorrow 7/27/21 for application #20365. My children have activities and my husband has to work during this meeting, so I may not be able to attend the meeting, I VOTE NO for this project. Please confirm receipt of this letter. Thank you, Jessica Christian 4775 Loyal Drive (owner) 579-4974 Sent from Mail for Windows 10 July 10, 2021 The City of Bozeman Department of Community Development ATTN: Tom Rogers agenda@bozeman.net Re: Application #20365 Dear Mr. Rogers and/or To Whom it May Concern, It has been brought to my family’s attention that there is a proposed development where it is being considered that Loyal Drive would be one of the entrance points to the neighborhood of 152 new homes. I cannot even fathom that this is being allowed on the City of Bozeman’s consideration to vote, but nonetheless I am writing to ADAMANTLY CONTEST this project using Loyal Drive as an entry point. Our reasons are as follows: 1. Traffic and children’s safety: Loyal drive is already an access point for entering our neighborhood. When Loyal Gardens was developed and planned for, it only accounted for traffic of those residents within the neighborhood. With the apartments in the neighborhood especially, we already have issues of people driving too fast past our house, where I am constantly worried about my children who are walking or riding their bikes to the park down the street. I am consistently reminding drivers in the area to slow down and my next step was to file a complaint with Bozeman Police if needed. I should not have to live in fear and constant worry for my children’s safety should this proposed project be voted through. It’s not only an issue directly in front of our house, but also down by the park. Having grown up in Bozeman, I acknowledge things are changing and have been for some time. But Bozeman has always been about children’s safety and well-being and this project would directly impact my children’s safety as well as the many other children in the neighborhood. The other thing I worry about is when my children get off the bus, I will then have to worry about the additional traffic passing by and additional stranger interactions that would be an increased possibility as they walk home from the bus stop. There is not just the traffic of the new residents down the road, there is also the construction-related trucks and all of the vendors coming in and out, probably for years as construction of these houses occur. The construction phase will be incredibly unsafe for my family. DO THE RIGHT THING AND PROTECT MY CHILDREN. 2. Risk of vehicle damage: Loyal Drive does not have the wider street that other “pass-through” streets have in Bozeman that were planned accordingly for that. There are many areas in the neighborhood, especially on Loyal Drive where if there are cars parked on the street, there is limited area for cars to pass through. This is also a hazardous situation with drivers just passing through and currently I have seen close calls in this regard with parked cars on the street. Add additional regular traffic (drivers that have no regard or awareness because Loyal Drive is not their known neighbors and friends), and there will be vehicles hit. 3. Conserving property values: The very reason we purchased this lot and built, was because of the quiet neighborhood and safety that this neighborhood promotes. Making my road a pass- through completely compromises this and our property value, and again, was not appropriately planned for. I could list many more reasons but the above should be more than enough to decline this proposed neighborhood. They need to follow the rules like every other proposed neighborhood and have their own entrances/exits into their own community. Thank you for your consideration and please don’t hesitate to contact me directly for any questions or clarifications needed.
