I own a small business, and I am a tenant in the Gallatin Valley Mall. I believe I am speaking
for all the small business owners in the mall when I say, we have all been impacted by the
pandemic, on-line shopping, economic ups & downs and the recent closing of a huge anchor
the JC Penney's store. These circumstances have greatly affected the 53 mall tenants.
The reduced number of foot traffic alone past our stores hurts our sales. When we heard
Whole Foods was coming in and helping revive the Mall property with upgrades to the parking
lot and creating interest again at our location, we were thrilled!
We're frustrated that an activist group is trying to stifle this re-development project, that is
trying to repurpose an existing location and help better serve the community. The benefits
outweigh the negatives in this situation. Our mall needs a "facelift", we have the space and the
need for better "curb appeal" to entice shoppers to come in.
We can't stop growth in our town, but we can make sure we plan for future growth and
responsible expansion that benefits both business owners and customers. Thank you for your
time.
