I’ll bet reviewing development projects can a difficult and thankless job. However, with the explosive growth Bozeman is now experiencing, you are needed more now than ever. Bozeman is in dire need of new neighborhoods and if infill all the better! Bridger Meadows fits this bill. It is a neighborhood close to places of work, parks, and all forms of recreation. Yet at the same time this neighborhood creates and protects a large natural refuge for birds and mammals of all sorts. Approval of this neighborhood will provide much needed housing while increasing the tax base of the city, without incurring the high of cost extending services to the outskirts of town contributing to sprawl. I read the Bozeman Chronical’s critique of this project, it was laughable. Questioning the wisdom of Bozeman ever allowing any relaxations to code? Obviously, the editors of the Chronical are still pining for the days of old, when Bozeman was a sleepyfrontier town. However, it is time for them to realize that Bozeman is a vibrant international city. A daydoes not go by that Bozeman is not mentioned on a national tv news show, or in a national paper. Itseems a new airline connection is added every other week. Housing and lot prices are doubling andtripling. Growth is going to happen whether the Chronical editors like it or not. As a local realtor, I encourage the commission approve Bridger Meadows. We need a commission that looks forward instead of backward, to help reflect the city we have become. Bridger Meadows is but a small piece in a large fabric, but it can be the beginning of a cohesive strategy to move Bozeman forward into the future.
