The property at 7 E. Beall consists of a 1.25-story brick and wood-faced commercial office building, built in a Twentieth Century Modern style. It was previously recorded in 1984, by James R. McDonald Architects, and regarded as an "intrusive element within a
potential historic district." McDonald described the building as follows: "This detached one-and-one-half commercial structure has an L-shaped plan with the front entrance flush to the interior joint of the ell. The two-bay façade is asymmetrical and consists of an offset front entrance with narrow fixed windows as sidelights and ground-to-roof fixed windows in the front façade . The brick construction has diagonal wood siding on the gable ends including glass-insets to the gable peaks. The structure rests on a concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with wood shakes and features boxed,
overhanging eaves." Metcalf revisited the site on October 13, 2020, and noted some modifications. The roof has new asphalt shingles, and a four lite skylight at the center of the peak of the western roof. The ground level is clad in brick veneer, and the upper story gable ends are clad in vertical board and batten, and no longer the diagonal boards from 1984. The primary façade faces east onto Beall St. to the south, with the main entry set at-grade at the west end of the long side of the ell. A wooden pergola extends from the eaves to define the
entry, filling the inside angle formed by the intersection of the exterior walls. The actual door is set in the west wall of the front-facing gable end. The east half of the façade has a wide gable front, with paired casement windows flanking a central bay containing a series of four
single-lite casement windows. On the upper level of the east half of the façade, the gable end contains a pair of side-hung glass doors with side-lites, and a three-lite transom that fills the gable peak. The doors give access a second story balcony, with metal railings,
projecting over the parking spaces below. A paved parking lot wraps around the south and west sides of the building, and an alley skirts the north side. The west elevation is dominated by a wide gable-end that projects slightly over the lower story. A secondary entry is recessed and protected by a shallow
pergola of wood. A series of fixed-lite windows are set to either side of the entry. Four stacked fixed-lite windows are centered vertically below the gable peak. The north elevation faces the rear alleyway, the long wall has been stuccoed and four mismatched
fixed windows are placed asymmetrically along its length. The east elevation has a solid metal entry door, with a concrete stoop, near the north end, flanked on one side by a narrow fixed-lite window, and to the south three similar fixed-lite windows. In the stucco-clad
gable end two similar windows are centered in the peak.
The building is modern, built in 1978, and is in excellent condition.

HISTORY OF PROPERTY
This property is a modern commercial office building, built in 1978, renovated in 1995, and remodeled in 2010. At the time of McDonald's survey and report in 1984 the property was owned and operated by Medical Associates Partnership. The
current occupant in Suite 100 is the American Prairie Reserve, who, according to their website "is a freestanding Montana-based nonprofit that started to assemble land in 2004...[whose] main focus is to purchase and permanently hold title to private lands that glue together a vast mosaic of existing public lands so that the region is managed thoughtfully and collaboratively with state and federal agencies for wildlife conservation and public access."
