Hi:
It almost seems 1/4 the houses in Bozeman especially the SouthSide stand empty the majority of the year.
Empty with a light inside on a timer. Vacant. Dead. Empty. Take a walk at night sometime. It is eerie. Some
streets on the SouthSide are ghostly. These are people’s second, third or even forth house. It is
unconscionable this is going on in our city with so many being shut out of the housing/rental market. It is
unfair and inequitable. The super rich are ruining Bozeman as a livable city.
Maybe as a solution if you haven’t already .... raise the property tax threefold on people who do not claim
their Bozeman house or condo as a primary residence. (Exclude rental properties.)
If it keeps going historic south and north Bozeman in 10 years will just be a 100% rich ultra wealthy enclave
and middle class people will be forced out. And 75% of houses will stand empty waiting for that 2-3 weeks
when the rich jet in and visit.
