Presentation - Vanessa Palmer • Vanessa showed several possible designs for the new route signs & solicited comments • The new signs should be easy to see, especially at night • The new signs will have a stop ID and will have QR codes to help people figure out where they
are if there should be a problem
• The Streamline logo will be used • The black background sign was not favorably received • Discussion - Sunshine Ross
Urban Transportation District • There is a need to hire a strategic services consultant to create the plan to implement the Urban Transportation District once Bozeman knows they are eligible. • The consultant will collect signatures for the UTD to be put on the ballot
• The consultant will advise in the creation of the boundaries of the district.
• The signatures need to be submitted & approved in time for a May ballot, which would determine a November ballot count. • Mark Egge requested to see a proposed budget for this consultant. • The budget could be funded by several stakeholders, County Commissioners, MDT, Streamline,
and possibly the city transportation department. Sunshine Ross is investigating.
• The earliest this could happen would be spring 2022 • Nobody in Montana has done a UTD since the 1970s so help is needed to figure out all the steps involved.
Alternative fuel for buses
• Sunshine Ross reported there is the possibility to expand the fleet to a certain percentage of buses using alternative fuel. • Grants are available to alter the buses. One of the grans is from the Volkswagen settlement and is a 50% match. Funds need to be requested by early April, 2021
• Mark Egge expressed concerns about increasing the complexity for operations and was not
supportive. • Cara Priem requested input from David Kack & Karst stage • Dennis Sines said the electric buses are good for around town but don't work well when the
temperature is below 0 F • Joseph Menicucci stressed the importance for safe and effective transportation in order to increase ridership. He volunteered a student group to research electric buses along with Kristen Blackler to research in time for 2022.
• Kristen Blackler is supportive of this proposal but not at this time. The Electric buses are twice
the cost of conventional buses Director's Report – Sunshine Ross • reviewed
