Seipel - Board ConsolidationFrom:Katharine Seipel To:Agenda Subject:Consolidation of committees is a good idea, but plan is too dramatic Date:Sunday, May 23, 2021 9:45:07 PM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Dear Sirs and Madams of the Bozeman City Commission, I think it is a mistake to limit citizen involvement and would like you to reconsider theproposed plans to consolidate the Citizen Committees. The extent to which these committees are consolidated under the proposed plan will not improve efficiency or the quality of theirproducts. I am particularly concerned that the Pedestrian Traffic Safety Committee (PTSC) is being disbanded without properly consolidating it with other, like-minded committees. I havepersonally attended PTSC committees, and have benefited every time. It does not serve the City of Bozeman well to remove valuable forums for public involvement. Although I agree with the spirit of streamlining committees to reduce redundancy and improveefficiency, it should not lead to less access for public involvement in those things that we, as citizens, hold dear. The public already has very little opportunities for involvement beyond 3minutes at your meetings, and voting you in or out of office. I urge you not to make this access to involvement worse. Thank you for your consideration, Katharine Seipel
