Mayor Andrus, Deputy Mayor Cunningham, and Commissioners Pomeroy, Madgic and
Coburn -
The City’s Advisory Committee Consolidation effort is an important initiative to have thenumerous boards rationalized and improved in efficiency, and the members of the Library
Board of Trustees recognize and support the importance of this project. However, the uniqueposition of the Library Board of Trustees does not fit the proposed model, and we ask that the
Library Board of Trustees not be included, remaining intact and functioning currently as ahighly-effective group. Precluding the Board from being included in the initiative are
important state statutory requirements, the library’s relationship with the county, andsignificant supervisory and administrative responsibilities. The attached letter explains these
reasons in more detail and describes the Board’s opposition more fully.
Best, John Gallagher (Chair)
