BOZEMAN PARKING COMMISSION
RESOLUTION 2021-02
A RESOLUTION OF THE PARKING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA,
TO ALLOW FOR CONVENIENCE FEES FOR SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman has granted the Parking Commission authority to set fees
and rates for publicly owned parking facilities (MCA7-14-4634); and,
WHEREAS, the State of Montana grants local governments the ability to charge
convenience fees for municipal services (MCA 7-5-4125); and,
WHEREAS, Bozeman Parking Services sets fees based on the costs services provided to
residents and guests of the City of Bozeman: and,
WHEREAS, often, local governments choose to finance operations through a user pays
model rather than imposing costs across the entire population; and,
WHEREAS, user pay models often result in cost savings to local governments for their
operations and incentivizes software providers to give customers and staff the best experience
possible; and,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Bozeman Parking Commission welcomes a
parking software provider that provides its software based on a fee-for-service model. The
Bozeman Parking Commissions supports a model which would charge convenience fees on
payments for permits, citations, and parking sessions, but allows for an option for residents to
avoid such fees.
Passed and adopted by the Parking Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, at a session
held on the 13th day of May 2021.
