I understand that you will be considering consolidation of advisory boards soon. The word advisory is
important. There is however, one board that is not advisory to you. It is a board that is a governing board
with a department head who can be hired and fired by that board. In other words, its function is similar in
many ways to the city commission which hires and fires its executive. I urge you to leave that board, the
library board, exempt from your plan.
