Dear Bozeman Commission, Ms. Hill and Mr. Overton, I am contacting you because of my concern over the proposed swim center schedule change for ourswim team from the agreed time of 3:55-5:25 pm plus Saturdays, to 9:45-11:45 am Mon-Fri. Thisproposed new practice time could not be any more challenging for working families, kids andcoaches, who have childcare, summer camps or jobs. I have 2 young children that have been swimming with the Barracuda Swim Team for the last coupleof years. Our summer is arranged around the 3:55-5:25pm practice times provided withregistration this last March. My husband and I both work full time and are unable to spend half ofour day, multiple times each week, driving children to and from swim practice. Our children are alsotoo young to be left unsupervised throughout the summer and are already enrolled in summer campsthat would now overlap with the new 'suggested' practice time. Ultimately, our children would beunable to continue to swim and are being punished in a situation that is easily remedied. Our coaching staff is VERY qualified to add safety capacity. Coach Jason is a Red Cross certifiedlifeguard instructor and certified pool manager. Coaches Jen, Matt, and Hans are Red Crosscertified lifeguards and maintain current USA swimming safety certifications. It appears that fourcertified coaches on deck should be considered as they provide more than adequate safetyoversight for our team. Children have had to give up so much over the last year and Bozeman prides itself on our activecommunity. Let's please work together with the swim team to find a better solution. A solutionthat will not leave our young children from partaking in an activity that they love, right at a timewhen the world is trying so desperately to give them some kind of normal. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions. Thanks,Melissa Fisher ph: (406)579-3695
