I am the chair of the Beautification Advisory Board but I am not representing that board onthis matter. I am commenting as a member of the pickle ball committee. I am in favor of resolution 5293 authorizing CILP funding to complete Bogert Park CourtRenovations. Our Bozeman Pickleball Court Committee has been actively working towards creating a venue for pickleball play for over 2 years. We have followed appropriate protocol according to Bozeman City procedures for makingpublic requests. It is a fact that currently Bozeman does not have any dedicated pickleball courts for the use by the general public. We have researched specific safety and optimal playing dimensions with specific regard to theproposed pickleball courts at Bogert Park. We have interacted with several experts in all aspects of pickleball court construction including types of surface, striping, and fencing. We have contacted several in state and out of state communities who have simular populationsand who have recently installed pickleball courts in parks because of popular demand. We feel that although seniors make up the majority of pickleball players the sport is also becoming popular with all age groups. In fact pickleball is taught at Bozeman High School aspart of their Health Enhancement classes. Our conclusions for what constitutes a first rate professional pickleball court's project have been fact based and shared in conjunction with the appropriate city officials at several inperson opportunities. We are thankful for the positive rapport that we have developed with city officials who have been receptive of our input and appreciated our assessment of our vast and growing localpickleball enthusiasts. A special thank you to Mitch Overton and Luke Cline for their part in allowing the Pickleball community to be an interactive part of this decision. Their expertise has been invaluable.
