The land on the southwest side of this intersection is part of the only wetland complex remaining in this area. The wetlands are home to many songbirds, birds of prey, foxes, and deer. I am concerned about the prospect of development at this site, as the only option would be destruction of the habitat. As we are so lacking in any remaining wetlands in Gallatin County, this site is important. I live in the Baxter Meadows neighborhood at 2451 Milkhouse Avenue. Like many developments in Bozeman, this neighborhood was previously surrounded by open land: in this case, an abundance of fields and wet meadows which were enjoyed by many Baxter Meadows residents. The property at the SW corner of Davis and Cattail is mapped as wetland and wooded wetland in the Montana State Natural Heritage mapping system. It would be terrible if this valuable wetland is filled in for development. While the public notice at the site references a zone change application, the wetland is at risk no matter if a zone change happens or not. If the Bozeman Planning Department has listened to locals at all, you are aware that the vast majority of locals are frustrated and deeply upset about the unchecked development and the destruction of any and all open spaces remaining in Gallatin Valley. I would ask you to please provide me notice of any public hearings related to this site, the proposed project, and the zone change application. It is my hope that the Planning Department allows more consideration for this site than was shown for Flanders Mill Road, where every Cottonwood tree on the entire west side of the road was demolished, including one that held an eagle nest of a breeding pair that returned each year. There was no logical reason for the demolition of the trees, as the site was made into a sports field, which could have easily accommodated leaving the trees standing (and would have made for a much more pleasing look to the site, aesthetically). Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you personally regarding the site and any public hearings, Shaney Evans Thank you, City Of Bozeman This is an automated message generated by Granicus.
