I am writing to strongly urge you to deny the application for a Whole Foods at the Gallatin Valley Mall. Amazon
has repeatedly shown that it has no interest in supporting local communities and is only concerned with profits to the
corporation. Furthermore there are environmental concerns with the proposed plan that Amazon is also unlikely to
adequately address for a community so connected and reliant on the environment through fishing, hunting, and
outdoor tourism. There are over a dozen grocery stores already in Bozeman, several of which (the Coop, Rosauers)
already fill the niche that Whole Foods represents, and most of which are locally owned and operated instead of
being a huge chain owned by a multi-billionaire. Bozeman has a population of less than 50,000 people, and
definitely does not need another chain grocery store that will funnel even more money out of the community. Places
like the Coop and other grocery stores are already struggling to fully staff their stores despite having good wages
and benefits. Another store will only hurt our local businesses that have provided for our community for decades.
Please deny application 20412.
Thank you,
Jessica Chute
