Dear Commission Members,
I am emailing to express my opposition to the proposed rezoning of the Buffalo Run
development. I think R3 would be much more appropriate for the road infrastructure andadjacent Meadow Creek subdivision. Meadow Creek is a quiet neighborhood with lots of
children, people who walk their dogs and jog in the streets. The density of a R4 would greatlyincrease traffic on S. 27th and Kurk to the point of making it unsafe for those activities.
I understand the need for increased affordable housing but the current proposal by the
developers does not take into account the current feel and situation of the adjacentneighborhoods. There is a way to grow Bozeman without making entire neighborhoods
sacrifice what they love about where they live. The 79 page report seems to ignore any qualityof life and real safety issues for current residents and seems to just rubber stamp what the
developer wants. Details such as a secondary paved access are also too ambiguous. Thedeveloper has suggested taking out half of Ainsworth park to connect to S 30th. I am strongly
against that idea. No city ever wishes to decrease public green space, especially one alreadyestablished and improved with funds and support of the surrounding neighborhood. The
alternative paving of Fowler off of Stucky is a much better alternative and keeps trafficvolume in a neighborhood with kids to an acceptable level. But these details are left
unfinished and I fear the developer would opt for the cheaper option of plowing through ourpark.
Please reject the R4 zoning request and instead approve an R3 to be more compatible with the
current area.
Thank you for your time.Sincerely,
Jenny Jonesresident Meadow Creek neighborhood
