Christopher has extremely needed lived experience that would greatly benefit the Bozeman Commission. Our commission needs representation from the youth, from queer voices, and from BIPOC, all of which Coburn will bring a much needed perspective to. He is also very conventionally qualified for the position. I absolutely love Tom Woods but his demographic is already represented on the commission and he has demonstrated strong ability to run a campaign. It is obvious that an appointment to the commission now will help that person run a campaign in November. The appointment process should take into account uplifting voices onto the commission that might otherwise be blocked or disadvantaged by campaigning obstacles such as funding, time commitment, and previous networking. Certain demographics In our community already have a lifetime of connections and networking as well as more time and funding to put towards a campaign. The most underrepresented populations in Bozeman often do not have these advantages and so should be uplifted whenever possible. The Bozeman commission needs to represent all of us to fully prepare for the future of our town in a just and sustainable way. We need Chris Coburn on the commission.
