Dear City Commissioners,
I'm writing about your focus on affordable housing. This is the wrong direction for supporting low wage
workers. I recall the Great Society efforts from the 60s. The low wage housing projects turned into locations
of poverty, crime, drugs etc within 10-20 years. Why do you want to reproduce the same failed results
here? Also why do you expect property owners to keep paying more in taxes? Instead, it would be better to
focus on worker skill building, equitable hiring practices supported by higher minimum wage levels and
economic growth. Please refer to the following report from the Brooking Institution
