MASTER PLAN / PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
Lantern Park Master Plan
- Commission adoption on October 13, 2020. Associated with the Graf Street Apartments Master Site
Plan Application 19309 and the Nexus Point Master Site Plan Application 19263
Oak Meadows Park
- Received Cash-in-lieu award in July 2017 with Resolution 4831 (following adoption of Park Master
Plan modification with Resolution 4830)
- Due to covid, travel by the installation company was delayed and contracts need to be renewed for
2021/22.
Bridger Ski Foundation/Sunset Hills Cemetery
- Staff approved the Bridger Ski Foundation donor-recognition program but it may need to be
adopted as an amendment to the master plan per the Park Naming Ordinance.
Westlake Park
- Ongoing discussions with Midtown Urban Renewal/Economic Development, B.M.X. and
S.W.M.M.B.A., and other park stakeholders around improvements and completion of other
elements of the plan.
- Master Plan Amendment recommended for approval by Rec and Park Advisory Board on November
12, 2020; Commission adopted via Resolution 5237 on December 8, 2020.
- Cash-in-lieu of Parkland application also approved (see below). Contract established with Sanderson
Stewart for engineering and landscaping design work.
- Working to request additional assistance from Midtown Urban Renewal/Econ. Development for
plaza area, starting gate, freestyle area construction, budget shortfalls
TOP Projects
Front Street Connector
- October 13, 2020 City Commission approved Resolution 5147, Authorizing the Allocation of
Additional Funding up to $110,681.76 from the Trails, Open Space and Parks Bond for the Front
Street Connector Trail
- Ongoing collaboration with GVLT on RTP grant requirements and Sanderson Stewart on designs and
permitting. Permits submitted 12/24/2020. Bid documents under review to be posted end of
January.
Galla10
- October 13, 2020 City Commission approved Resolution 5209 Allocation of 2012 Trails, Open Space
and Parks Bond Funding for the Galla10 Alliance for Pathways Frontage Pathway
GVLT/COB
- October 13, 2020 City Commission approved Resolution 5221 – Allocation of 2012 Trails, Open
Space and Parks Bond Funding for the West Side Pathways and Trails Connection Project
Cash-in-Lieu of Parkland Grants:
GLVT application for Front Street Connector Funding
- RPAB review pending revised estimate of probable costs.
Westlake Park
- December 8, 2020 City Commission approved Resolution 5238 Allocating up to $193,500 for the
Gallatin Valley BMX andSouthWest Montana Mountain Bike Association Cash-in-Lieu of Parkland

Gallatin Watershed Council – Water Wayfinding Kiosks/Interpretative Signage Project
- December 8, 2020 City Commission approved Resolution 5239 Authorizing up to $28,380 for the
Gallatin Watershed Council 2020 Cash-in-lieu of Parkland Application for Interpretive Signage
ENGAGEMENT, COMMUNICATION, AND PARTNERSHIPS
HRDC and Western Transportation Institute
- Co-wrote grant for assistance with PROST outreach and engagement plan and implementation
GVLT
- Review grant for citywide wayfinding plan consultant (related to Westside Connections TOP Project,
but would apply city-wide)
MSU/CATS Partnerships
- Collaboration with Health Ed Department on a “Literacy Walk” project. To be reviewed by Master
Plan Committee. Considered for locating it at Bozeman Pond
- Working with professor Paul Gannon on CATS project for student assistance with parks sustainability
criteria and audits for spring semester 2021 and beyond
LONG-RANGE PLANNING DOCUMENT REVIEW AND PARTICIPATION
City of Bozeman:
- Climate Plan
Triangle Trails Plan
- Ongoing participation as COB representative.
- Presentation for RPAB in January

PROST
- Working to schedule PROST Committee meeting, RFP review and drafting
- COB coordination w Sustainability, Community Development, Public Works, etc.
- MSU coordination around Equity and Inclusion
- Grants applied for (see above w GVLT for trails and HRDC)
PARKS AND TRAILS DISTRICT
- Ongoing work with Contract Coordinator, HOAs, and other staff.
