• Ice rinks at Beall and Southside are closed. The rink under Anderson
pavilion is on life support. We need some cold weather to keep it
alive.
• Daily maintenance of parks continues: dog station maintenance,
garbage, prepping restrooms for spring, snow removal from the
artificial turf and plowing sidewalks, shared use paths and parking
lots.
• Luke, Doug, Mitch and I are in the process of grading the RFP’s for
the landscaping and irrigation contracts for this upcoming summer.
• Doug, our new assistant Parks superintendent, has been working
with GIS on route optimizations and fine-tuning our CityWorks asset
management software. This will be a critical component for us to
assume maintenance responsibilities in previously HOA maintained
parks.
• Budget presentation is/was March 10. The Park budget is heavy on
contracted services and small equipment such as mowers, ATV’s for
plowing and trailers for pulling the equipment.
• Adam Tewell has been promoted within the Parks Division to
permanent foreperson. He will assist Todd Lamb with supervision of
the crew and lining out daily activities. Adam comes to us from the
golf world and his experience with large irrigation and sports turf will
benefit the division and the city as we move into the district.
