WE have used Kagy Blvd. since 1980 when it was a dirt road. WE do not feel it
congested beyond most streets during rush hours. Also, why do it through the
Campus. It is our largest employer, brings much population to the economy, and needs
to be a unit as it is now even though the road changed twice.
The real issue is CLIMATE. Perhaps all of the Capitol project planning needs to be
reconsidered and revised. National and Global Planning is occurring now. Changes are
being made daily. Even though the money is available for this project, it should not be
the reason for doing it. WE are still a small town. People come because they like the
way it is. We do not need it to be like other cities with out of date planning ideas. I
don’t mean stop making changes, I mean we need changes that will be beneficial for
our people as Climate Changes occur. I’ll bet the staff turns down job offers of more
money in other areas because they like living here.
The road changed from dirt to concrete as the Mayor at the time liked biking and
wanted bike lanes on roads. A former Mayor owned property on the road and wanted
it paved so could sell lots. The golf course wanted paved road for it’s business. Then,
the Hospital moved from Wilson Ave to Highland Blvd. and another reason for the
paving of the road.
Please do not approve this project, more planning is needed. Thank you for reading
my thoughts. We cannot attend this eve as recovering from Covid and it will be too
late to stay up.
