Hi Katherine:
Thanks for the Web meeting last night. We were able to listen, but for some reason, you
couldn't see or hear us. We live on the NE corner of 6th & Story where we observe a lot of
foot traffic crossing 6th Ave. (Irving kids, MSU students, and dog walkers). Since it looks like
a calming device is planned for 6th & Koch, that leaves the corner of 6th and Story as the only
corner on Cooper Park without a calming device. I know from observation and experience
that many pedestrians cross here at all times of the day and night, and I have to get out early to
clear snow before it gets tramped down by the foot traffic. I strongly support a calming device
(bulbs or circle) at this crossing.
I am also a proponent of speed humps which could be utilized here in Bozeman.. They are
common in Portland and seem to do the trick. Speed humps are gradual rises in the street mid
block that gently remind drivers to slow down.
Another question: We had previously heard that this project would be spread out over a two
year period. Nothing was said last night about this. Is that still a possibility and if so, where is
the dividing point?
