Kendra and Taylor,
Thank you for hosting the meeting last night regarding the South 6th Ave reconstruction
project. I found the meeting very helpful and informative. Our family and our neighbors are
really looking forward to getting the project going. We live at 819 So. 6th between College
and Harrison. Couple quick feedback items:
1. Really happy with the unanimous support to keep the Northbound Barricade at Cleveland
and So. 6th. Even with the barricade, we still get extensive traffic coming around it. Would
like to see multiple options that other cities are implementing in regards to barricades. The
current signs are an effective tool for most people, but it is really easy just to go around.
2. Fully support the calming circle at So. 6th and Koch. We use Cooper Park regularly and
the speed of cars around the park on 6th is excessive.
3. Would like to encourage the city to look diligently at a traffic calming circle at the
intersection of So. 6th and Harrison St. As I mentioned on the call, So. 6th from College to
Cleveland is a high use corridor for MSU traffic coming from westbound College. It is an
uphill, straight shot with an unmarked intersection that has good visibility North/South, but
very poor visibility East/West. There have been multiple accidents at the intersection and
even more near misses. The intersection is also a high use crossing for pedestrians walking to
MSU from the neighborhood. Lastly, the MSU Quads on the SW corner of the intersection
generate significant traffic both North and Southbound.
Thank you for the consideration and again for proactively involving the neighboorhood. Very
much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Andy Wunsch
