I would vote for a maximum of 2 traffic calming circles. Is there a way to write this into the support/protest form? We are grateful for your feedback and questions. We’ve included some additional information below, please let us know if we can provide further information! 1. The SID is financed over a 20-year period, at approximately 2% interest. Property owners have the option to pay off assessments early if they choose to. 2. Yes indeed, the water and sewer mains, as well as the stormwater drain system, will all be replaced during the roadway reconstruction process. The SID will cover portions of the street and storm drain 2 improvements. The City of Bozeman will pay 100% for the water and sewer replacements through our rehabilitation funds. 3. We have received much feedback regarding traffic calming measures on S. 6th. The City of Bozeman is seeking to achieve a balance between the interest of property owners for/against traffic calming options, staying within budget, and maintaining swift emergency and snowplow access for residents. Currently, we feel that the current three proposed traffic circles in addition to the lane barricade at Cleveland is a reasonable balance of traffic calming while still maintaining healthy access and flow of the roadway. A 4th traffic calming circle has been recently proposed through resident feedback at the intersection of Olive. If the budget allows – we will also add in this calming measure. Again, thank you for reaching out! Keep the questions and comments coming – we are reviewing and responding as quickly as we can. This is your local roadway, and we appreciate your interest in making this reconstruction effort as effective for our community as possible. - City of Bozeman, Engineering Division (please note that future communication can be made via this email address and via bznstreetreport@bozeman.net) On Wed, Feb 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM <sblissmercer@gmail.com> wrote: Kendra – I am a home owner on S. 6th and recently reviewed the proposed reconstruction data mailed last week. A few questions: How long will the “special Improvement District” tax be assessed? Our total assessment is $7053.50 – to paid in two increments/year for how many years? I listened in on the initial webx meeting prior to approval to “go forward” with this project. I understood that sewer lines and water mains would be replaced while the road is under rehab – Is this true? I don’t see mention in the budget, so am I correct in assuming sewer and water will be replaced but paid by the city and not the property owners? I don’t see the value in digging up the road without replacing these two critical utilities both of which are about 100 years old. Traffic Calming circles…..why does such a small neighborhood street need 4 possibly 5 (6th & Story) traffic calming circles? Thanks – 3 Serena Mercer
