This Community Platform was intended to offer an opportunity for continuous improvement to the UDC by allowing the public to provide input and suggestions for twice annual revisions to the the ordinances that impact Bozeman’s built environment. While this process has been utilized twice since its inception, there remain many meaningful and timely code amendment suggestions in the Community Platform “hopper” that have yet to be taken up or scheduled for further review. Today we request that the City accelerate this UDC update process and include several unscheduled items on the 2021 review calendar. The code amendments that we are requesting to be scheduled include the issuance of demolition permits, blank wall treatments, those regarding Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), and open space dimensions for alley loaded lots. These proposed revisions either include draft code language necessary to amend the UDC or the change is sufficiently minimal in nature to allow for active review and considerations. As Staff has suggested that prioritization would be further directed by the Commission, we write today to encourage you to work with Staff and City Management to allow the code amendments included herein, and possibly others, to be scheduled for City Commission consideration. These code edits are sufficiently important to allow their inclusion in the City’s proposed 2021 review schedule. Thank you for your consideration of this proposal and please do not hesitate to contact us in response to this letter. Sincerely, Robert J.
