Good evening Cyndy,
I am writing to you as a concerned homeowner and Bozeman resident to express
my profound concern regarding the proposed R-5 high-density zoning "Buffalo
Run" & to ask you to please consider voting to *Reject* approval on February 9.
The proposed R-5 development will have profound negative impacts on the
Meadow Creek community – particularly property owners around Ainsworth Park
(N. 27th, Kurk, Blackwood, 30th, & Meah). Based upon the development plan
and City traffic study, the proposed R-5 district does not align with the
Community Plan. Specifically, it would not be in "close proximity to jobs and
services" but rather in an extremely quiet neighborhood at the furthest edge of city
limits. The effect on motorized and nonmotorized transportation systems in the
Meadow Creek community would be dramatic as we have few access points and
are not capable of coping with additional traffic. Lastly, please consider the
character of this district which is defined by quiet, wildlife, and open spaces. This
development will not promote "compatible urban growth" & will negatively
impact home values in our community.
I urge you, as a City Commissioner, to please come and visit our neighborhood.
Please come and see what it is like to access Ainsworth Park by car or bicycle.
And while doing so, I urge you to consider firsthand three things: 1) how
challenging it will be for our tranquil community to cope with increased traffic; 2)
the number of children playing, community members jogging in the streets, and
wildlife in the surrounding fields; 3) and finally, the devastating effect on
property values should this high-density housing development be approved.
Thank you for your time & service on behalf of the community.
Respectfully,
Forrest Schoessow
