Donahue - WolvesFrom: KES Donahue To: Agenda Subject: Wolves Date: Friday, January 15, 2021 12:15:38 PM "A newly elected slate of extremist legislators in Montana have turned their sights on Montana’s wolves. They’re scrambling to pass a slew of bills to allow the killing of as many wolves as possible – and if their gruesome plans are enacted, no wolf in Montana will be safe. For years, Congress has completely turned its back on America’s wolves. Now, with wolves federally delisted from the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the door is open for states to destroy longstanding protections for wolves and other vulnerable wildlife. These new proposals in the Montana legislature could be a terrifying glimpse of a future dominated by rogue states, unless we fight back!." Defenders of Wildlife I would like to point out to you that wolves are a great draw for tourists. In January 2018 I joined a "wolf safari" with Natural Habitat Adventures" and started our wonderful odyssey in Bozeman. We then drove through Yellowstone, saw wolves, and continued to Jackson. Your state and your city are important departure and destinations for this trip since they do it in both directions; sometimes ending the trip in Bozeman. If you allow a few to eradicate wolves in your state, I won't visit and I will recommend that Nat Hab find another city. People who want to see wolves are heartened by their return and if you sanction their eradication - again - then you should be aware of why people visit your state. I would suggest you oppose this legislation. Kathaine Donahue -- "We're all here, because we're not all there." My blog: Darkling Plain (http://darklingplain.net/) Katharine E. S. Donahue 2985 E.
