Gibson Guitar Mfg. Facility – Site Landscape Plan Comments
The Water Conservation Division appreciates that the irrigation system will be operated and maintained to promote
water conservation and equipped with an installed rain sensor. The following recommendations to the Gibson Guitar
Mfg. Facility landscape plans are provided to maximize landscape health and resiliency while minimizing outdoor water
consumption.
1. On sheet L1.0 under planting notes #16 – Specify a 4”-6” topsoil depth requirement for lawn and plant bed
areas.
2. On sheet L1.0 under planting notes #20 – reduce the use of Kentucky bluegrass by installing native seed mix
in turf areas expected to receive little foot traffic to reduce overall supplemental water needed during the
watering season.
3. On sheet L2.0 under installation notes – specify the installation of a weather-based irrigation controller.
4. On sheet L2.0 under installation notes – Specify the installation of water efficient nozzles (multi-spray, multi-
trajectory or rotary sprays) and specify that the system will achieve head to head coverage.
5. On sheet L2.0 under irrigation calculations #4.5 – specify that irrigation zones will be separated by plant
water needs (hydrozones) and that all individual irrigation zones be installed to achieve matched
precipitation rates between sprinkler heads (rotors and sprays should not be mixed within a single zone).
6. Specify that perennial plants, shrubs, and trees are to be irrigated with drip irrigation.
7. Include total landscaped area (ft2) and landscaped area of trees/shrubs/perennials/grasses.
