Subject: Concerning Views of Commissioners

Dear Mayor Andrus and City Commissioners,
I have recently been made aware of a comment on social media by Commissioner
Pomeroy's husband, Derek Pomeroy.
The post states, "Although I strongly disagreed, if you supported Trump in the past, I didn't
question your motive. On January 6, Trump crossed the Rubicon. Trump violently attacked
our democracy. Five Americans are dead. If you still support Trump, then you are Al
Qaeda; you are ISIS."
Equating fellow Americans who support President Trump to Al Qaeda or ISIS is
unacceptable for people to be freely stating. At a time when there is much upheaval in our
country, inflammatory words like this can be considered hate speech or an incitement to
violence. There were over one million Americans in Washington, DC on January 6th in
support of an audit for the election results in the swing states. The Capitol incursion was
committed by a very few people; to say these few people represent the one million Trump
supporters who were in DC, or the 75 million who voted for the President in the last election
is a grave mistake. If President Trump can be permanently banned from Twitter for calling
for people to go home and to peacefully leave the city, then Derek and I-Ho Pomeroy should
be reprimanded for the inflammatory language equating all Trump supporters terrorists.
This is absolutely not appropriate for any public servant or family member to be speaking in
such ways that could be interpreted as inciting violence.
Please address this immediately. I would like to ask for Commissioner Pomeroy to resign. I
do not believe she can represent the people of Bozeman impartially and with fairness at this
point.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Tusken
