Dear Zoning Commission,
I am writing to strongly encourage you to NOT approve the application for an R-5
permit for a proposed 288-unit condominium complex adjacent to Meadow Creek
Subdivision.
I am opposed to such a complex due to the unsafe streets and heavy traffic that this
complex would create. According to the developer's own report, the proposed
complex would create an additional 2,140 vehicle trips per day on Kurk Avenue. Per
day! Please see attached photo of Kurk Avenue, which demonstrates how narrow it
is. I believe such a complex belongs adjacent to a wide road that has shoulders, bike
lanes, turning lane, etc., such as 19th, Huffine, East Main.
Moreover, the residents of Meadow Creek moved here for the safety and quiet that
the neighborhood offers. The proposed complex would erode our neighborhood
terribly. Many young children live in this neighborhood and is great to see them
biking, roller skating and playing outside, being healthy. I doubt many would with such
a significant increase in traffic.
We all know Bozeman is growing, please help it grow wisely. I suggest said
developer build low density single family homes or low density, 1-2 level
condominiums consistent with the nature of Bozeman not New York City. A
condominium complex should be built in a suitable neighborhood, not because it
suits the developer's wishes.
Thank you for your consideration of your constituents,
Liz Muhs Stone
