Hello,
I would like to submit a comment regarding the application for "Buffalo Run" condominium complex off
Kurk Drive immediately adjacent to the Meadow Creek subdivision. I understand the commission and
Bozeman are under a great deal of pressure to increase affordable housing and that high density housing is
generally the cheapest. But I would like to lodge my objection to granting an R-5 immediately next to a
single family home neighborhood, particularly with the current plans for all access to be through Meadow
Creek. We moved to this neighborhood because it is quite and I can walk my dog down the street and pull
my 18 month old on a sled down the icy street in winter without fear of being run over or having speeding
cars next to us. The traffic volume from the proposed 288-unit complex is very large and would completely
change the peaceful feel of the neighborhood. Would you please consider a different, lower density zoning
closer in line with single family homes. While I would prefer single family homes, I would be fine with a
higher density similar to other projects that have just been completed on Graf immediately next to
Meadow Creek and think the traffic volume would be much better, keeping us closer to the quiet and safe
neighborhood we came here for. I do, however, strongly object to the requested new road through
Ainsworth Park. That park is another reason we moved here in the first place and is regularly used by the
entire neighborhood. We came together as a community to pay for the playground and for a developer to
come in and move it does not inspire a neighborhood or community at large to pay out of pocket for open
space and parkland that benefit everyone. The city didn't want to pay for playground equipment so we did
as a neighborhood. If the city comes back and allows a developer to remove it for a road, that would be
extremely disappointing and disheartening.
I know you're in a tough spot with housing needs and developers, but please consider keeping our parkland
intact and reducing the density zoning. Thank you for your time and your service to our community.
Sincerely,
Jenny Jones
