Subject:Kagy Road Expansion - Just Say No!

Dear City Commissioners,
I wanted to send another email with a few more points to consider.
1. If a tunnel is built, this will create a number of safety issues for women and children. Going
through a tunnel in the early morning or later in the evening will create potential safetyconcerns.
2. The tunnel will become a place for transients to spend the night, urinate and defecate (trust
me, I've lived in enough cities to know this as fact).
3. One great free/inexpensive fix to the 15 minute rush on Kagy is simply to work with MSUto create staggered schedules for employees. Some employees could start earlier and end their
day earlier. By staggering the MSU workforce, traffic will be drastically reduced with little tono cost to the city.
4. Four lanes of traffic will create safety issues for people trying to cross Kagy who are scared
to pass through the tunnel for the reasons mentioned above.
5. The City of Bozeman does not have the resources to pay for this. There are many otherissues that should be prioritized.
6. How on earth does this line up with the Climate plan?
Please do not pass this ill-conceived idea. City Commissioners should be prioritizing a
bikable/walkable city, not road expansion. Please make a financially responsible decisiontonight and prioritize only climate-friendly projects.
Thank you in advance for wise and prudent decision making,
Emily Mason

Dear City Commissioners,
I am writing to you to convey my extreme opposition to the widening of Kagy. Iwork at MSU and live near the university in the Figgins Addition neighborhood. I
bike or walk to work everyday. My kids often cross Kagy to go to theconvenience store or to ride their bikes to the library on the Galligator Trail. The
last thing in the world our community needs right now is to spend an exorbitantamount of money on something that will do nothing to improve the community,
but will only work to destroy the fabric of our everyday experience. WideningKagy will only cause drivers to drive faster, it will make it far more dangerous for
students, staff, faculty and neighborhood kids to cross Kagy. How on earth areyou planning to pay for this? The wise, prudent choice for the commission would
be to vote down this horrible idea and to invest in pedestrian/bike friendly safetyimprovements so that we become less dependent on cars. I urge you to vote
against this unwise measure and instead focus on making Bozeman a morelivable, sustainable and pedestrian friendly community.
Thank you in advance for your common sense, fiscally responsible decision
making.
