Community Plan 2020

RECOMMENDATION:Adoption of Resolution 5245 as presented.
STRATEGIC PLAN:4.1 Informed Conversation on Growth: Continue developing an in-depth
understanding of how Bozeman is growing and changing and proactively
address change in a balanced and coordinated manner.
BACKGROUND:During the public review of the draft Bozeman Community Plan 2020, the
City Commission requested a change to the graphic design of Table 4 of the
document. Staff proposed an alternative layout and the City Commission
accepted that graphical overhaul and it was included in the final draft
adopted by Resolution 5133.
In the process of changing the design layout for Table 4 there was an editing
error. The Residential Emphasis Mixed Use (REMU) zoning district was shown
in the initial Table 4 in the public review draft as an implementing district for
Residential Mixed Use future land use designation. In the revised Table 4,
the REMU zoning district didn’t make the translation as an implementing
district. There was no motion of the Commission directing the exclusion of
REMU and the omission makes several large areas out of compliance with
the adopted growth policy.
This resolution corrects the omission and documents the correction. The
revised Table 4 is attached as an exhibit to the resolution. The corrected
Table will be included with the online draft of the growth policy.

RESOLUTION NO. 5245
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, CORRECTING A SCRIVENER’S ERROR IN THE BOZEMAN
COMMUNITY PLAN 2020.
WHEREAS,the City of Bozeman has had a comprehensive plan (growth policy) since
1958; and
WHEREAS,the City of Bozeman adopted its current growth policy known as the
Bozeman Community Plan 2020 through Resolution 5133 on November 17, 2020; and
WHEREAS,an error has been identified in Table 4 of the adopted growth policy where
an implementing zoning district was omitted from the Table during a redesign of the table for a
different appearance but not for content; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission directed the change to the appearance of Table 4 in
the City’s growth policy; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission made no motion to revise the implementing zoning
districts for the Residential Mixed Use future land use designation; and
WHEREAS,it is necessary to document the correction of the error and provide public
notice and opportunity for comment on the correction;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of
Bozeman, Montana, that:

The City Commission recognizes the omission of the Residential Emphasis Mixed Use
(REMU) zoning district from the list of implementing districts for the Residential Mixed Use

future land use designation in Table 4 of the Bozeman Community Plan 2020 as a scrivener’s
error and not an intentional edit.
Section 2
That the Bozeman Community Plan 2020 adopted by Resolution 5133 be revised to
correct the scrivener’s error by replacement of Table 4 on Page 58 as shown on attached Exhibit
A with all other elements of the Bozeman Community Plan 2020 to remain as adopted by
Resolution 5133.
Section 3
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Commission of the City of
Bozeman, Montana, at a regular session thereof held on the 22nd day of December, 2020. This
Resolution is effective on passage.
