Thompson - 2022 General Fund Budget - Boz City TrailsFrom:George Thompson To:Agenda Subject:2022 General Fund Budget - Boz City Trails Date:Tuesday, December 1, 2020 1:20:23 PM Mayor and Commissioners; Having worked on the 2020 Community Plan, I am concerned that many items, with respect toconnectivity trails and paths, will be quietly swept under the rug and languish as "aspirational" items for another 10 years. Please address the following in the 2022 Budget. 1) Allocate a minimum of $200,000 toward building a path along City property alongFrontage Road between Nelson Road and 19th/Springhill. Note that future development can be asked to reimburse City trail expenditures as part ofreview and approval of new projects in the area. 2) Provide adequate funding for stand alone trails and paths, similar to the 1% for Art on public projects (which is a great idea !!) , maybe 1% of City General Funds Budget goestoward enhanced connectivity trails. Perhaps money could be extended by offering "matching funds" if developers provide more trails, or enhanced trails with Shade structures, benches, climbing rocks etc. I am confident that such funding will kickstart alternative transportation of bikes/walking/bus stops etc. thank you for your consideration.
