Cooney - Letter of Support for HRDC's applicationFrom:Cooney, Lander To:Agenda Subject:[SENDER UNVERIFIED]Letter of Support for HRDC"s application Date:Friday, November 20, 2020 4:43:09 PM Dear Mayor Andrus and Members of the Commission, I’m writing to express CHP’s support for HRDC’s application for $500,000 inCommunity Housing Funds to assist in preservation and renovation for theBoulevard and Darlinton Apartments. As you know, these affordable housingoptions are essential to the lives of some of our most vulnerable friends andneighbors. The Affordable Housing needs assessment notes that the communityis already in desperate need of additional housing units for people at all incomelevels. As this community continues to grow, the preservation of affordablehousing like the Boulevard and Darlinton Manor is critical. At this time, only5% of the City's rentals are affordable to households earning less than 60%AMI, however 45% of renters fall below this income level. Only 1% of units areaffordable to very low income households earning less than 30% AMI. Ourcommunity is already in an extreme housing crisis; the loss of these unitswould be staggering, and the subsidy irreplaceable. CHP could not achieve our mission without trusted and effective partners likeHRDC. Thank you for your consideration and support of their request. Sustainedaccess to critical affordable housing options serves our whole community well.
