Hello Bozeman City Planners and Officials,
Thank you for publishing the 2020 planning documents. I appreciated your use of approachable language and
thoughtful consideration of all relevant points.
I want to add my support for considering wildlife and its needs as Bozeman and Gallatin County gains people and
loses open space. A decade ago, I remember seeing a Great Blue Heron resting on a branch in a wetland area near
Cottonwood Road. I worried that her perch would soon be gone. This once rich, open wildlife habitat now sits
underneath a car dealership.
You were right to diagnose that people move here for the easy access to open space, wildlife, and other essentials.
Wildlife can adapt to people’s presence if we don’t make it impossible for them to live alongside us.
I appreciate your advocacy of creative solutions and preservation of open space and wildlife habitat. It is true that
some wildlife will be able to live here more easily than others, but I believe it is our primary responsibility to
accommodate them as much as we force them to accommodate us.
Thank you for your work and I wish you every success.
My best,
Kris Fedro
