Dear City Officials, As a long time NorthEast Bozeman resident and advocate, any proposed development
on the Idaho Log and Pole site and adjoining properties presents major red flags.
Public trust must be founded on transparency when the City promotes projects that have significant
impacts on public health, safety and quality of life. This is what I know concerning the City's past behavior
and their eroding of the public trust.
The clean up on this site was detoured away from the original intent and extent of the EPA's superfund
directives toward a less comprehensive result and the City signed off on this.
The City failed to reveal inconsistencies in the clean up progress and documentation.
The City presented the appearance of catering to local economic interest (transfer station, etc) in disregard
for public safety and a wide range of possible impacts in the future
(NOW).
It is my opinion that the inappropriate M-2 zoning adjoining a vital residential neighborhood is an
unaddressed atrocity and presents a perfect opportunity for exploitation without public over site.
I know institutional amnesia has worked it's charm on the perceptions concerning this Super Fund Site and
challenged property, but remember this, our neighbors have back bone and will defend ourselves if our
concerns our disregarded.
