Previously he helped get the Peach Street bike lane/parking alignment done. He wants to see continuous bike lanes across town, plus shared paths on College Ave, and would like to see us fill in the gaps in the network. City of Bozeman 2018 Construction Project Update – Information Item (15 minutes, Linda DuPriest) a. Linda is preparing for wayfinding project subcommittee. They will be working on creating new signage to help with wayfinding around Bozeman’s bicycle network. This summer, they are trying to work on new roads and recent construction to put in wayfinding routes, such as on South Tracy from Olive to Harrison. THe new signs will have branded logo, bike routes, and a few locations to travel to, with directions and distances. There is only room for 3 destinations on each sign, so will need to be efficient. b. Lila, Elise, Rachel, Sam, Tawnya, Dillon, Andrew, are interested. Linda will contact us to schedule a time to get together. F. “The Streets of Bozeman Website” – Information Item (15 minutes, Sam Haraldson) a. Sam shared with us a “Story Map,” that uses the city’s GIS layers. Map is interactive, and shows changes over the past 20 years, and projecting into the future. G. TDM Survey – Information Item (15 minutes, Rebecca Gleason WTI) a. WTI sent out a survey to the 5 major employers in town, and has received 1800 responses about alternative transportation. b. 341 MSU employee responses, indicating that 70% utilize their own car by themselves, 18% with one passenger, 4% with two passengers, 4% bus, 19% bike, and 16% walk to work. c. Concerns about transportation include: Road Safety, Traffic congestion, pollution, infrastructure, and finding parking. d. Attitudes uncovered in the survey: Mostly people feel supportive about bus, biking, and walking, feeling that it’s a little more dangerous but very efficient. e. Attitudes toward transportation options: Most believe they would use alternative transportation, if given some improvements such as more paths to avoid riding with traffic, etc… f. Incentives might be offered to encourage alternative transportation: people would try carpooling or a Park-and-Ride if there was a financial benefit, and if it were easier to find a carpool buddy. They would be more likely to use a bus if there was more frequent service and more convenient stops, or a Park-and Ride. More likely to bike if there were more separated paths, a Park-and-Ride, safer roads, or financial incentives. g. 40% of MSU employees live within a quarter mile of a bus stop, 90% of MSU employees have a 10-20 minute commute, 17% live within 1 mile, 24% live within 5 miles. h. RideAmigos is an app, it utilizes Google Maps like interface to find bus, bike, rideshare, options, guaranteed ride homes. The pilot program is at BozemanCommute.rideamigos.com. i. Sonos is a company that has “Smart Ride” incentive programs. If employees give up their parking spot, they are paid! There are several tiers of membership, such as log 60 bike commutes in 1 year, get $600 to a new bike, or a flexible option earning $2/ day. Bozeman Health is interested in a similar program. j. Next Steps for WTI: inviting others and sharing results with each employer, workshops, winter commute-a thon, and continuing the Bozeman Commuter Project k. Lila mentioned that the time is also right for getting businesses up on bike friendly business status requirements. H. Old Business (10 minutes) a. New BABAB logo: Tawnya is getting some samples for the bike board to vote on at the next meeting. She showed us some options for colors and fonts. There is some discussion on paying for a graphic designer, however Tawnya has a graphic designer friend, she’s looking for ideas to bring to them. There is some discussion on branding and need, but there is no desire to spend any money on it. We’ll give her ideas, she’ll work on some logos and we’ll vote at a future time. Candace will email us to give comments to Tawnya. b. Bike Maps: Andrew is taking the lead on the new bike map. The goal is to update design, and get them printed in time for this summer, rather than a total revision. c. Elise is aware of a group of MSU students that are interested in doing bike education in elementary schools. Tawya is unable to continue on Safe Routes to School project, but she had good information from Taylor Lonsdale. Can Elise team with GVBC and their education group? Journeys From Home is a elementary bike education resource that has been developed, Taylor Lonsdale has shared that with Tawnya. I. New Business (10 minutes) a.
