Sam presides. B. Approve Previous Meeting Minutes: Item postponed due to lack of quorum. C. Public Comment: No Public Comment D. City of Bozeman 2018 Construction Project Update – Linda DuPriest a. City staff is excited and enthusiastic to install bicycle wayfinding signs this summer, starting in July. There will be many new signed bike routes, expanding the current bike network. Koch and Tracy will be signed as new bike routes, as well as routes in the western part of the city. b. Discussion points: Should we put a BABAB logo on it? Or just run with current plans? We have some time to figure it out. Logos could be simple, like the logos for the Midtown District, Chamber of Commerce, MSU, etc… We don’t want the project to get bogged down in details, however. If we had branding on the bike signs, or some attractive murals, it will boost the image of the project. c. Christian will have a GIS map prepared shortly for locating the current signs and planning new sign locations. d. Linda wants to make a subcommittee meeting starting in March or so for further planning. e. John Vandelinder informs us that the city has a new sign-making machine on the way as well, as the current one randomly prints signs in Chinese. E. Bicycle Friendly Local Businesses – Lila Fleishman a. Bike Walk Montana (BWM) and the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) have bike friendly business plans. It may be worth our while to encourage more businesses to become bike friendly along with our silver bike-friendly city rating. b. To become a bike friendly business, there are membership dues, and some of the requirements can be fairly steep, like covered bike parking, showers, and so on. BWM business membership dues are more expensive than LAB. For the LAB - there is an application process and requirements depends on number of employees. A business earns a number of points for each pro-bike facility or program. LAB has several deadlines for enrollment through the year. c. Could coordinate with upcoming Bike Week for a push and recruitment. Will contact businesses through facebook and email. F. Old Business (10 minutes) a. Discussion on construction work in Bridger Canyon was tabled last month due to Candace not being present. Since she is still absent, we should remember to touch on it next month. b. Ferguson and Oak signal box is designated for BABAB to decorate. We could find an artist or something to use their artwork. Jerry something has a montana made of bike tools. Photographs are allowed, photographs of kids are not. We’ll continue looking for ideas. c. New BABAB logo: Tawnya’s getting some samples for the bike board to vote on at the next meeting. d. Onyx Maps has bike routes on their App, it might be worthwhile to approach them to see how they built it. Sam will also contact Steve Bretzen to see if we can get the map. G. New Business (10 minutes) a. Mayor Carson Taylor is a real champion of the bicycling people. He thanks us all for volunteering, as we are a very active board that actually matters and makes a difference in this town. BABAB does a lot of labor, our city staff believes in us. Carson again thanks us all for our hard work and enthusiasm. H. Adjourn at 7:17
