Subject:[SENDER UNVERIFIED]Possible Delay of Work on Griffin Drive
Date:Monday, October 26, 2020 12:22:44 PM
Dear Mayor Andrus and Commissioners,
I am writing to you to express my concern that there may be a delay to the scheduled
improvements for Griffin Drive. Any delay in the work would cause a delay to the
construction and opening of HRDC's Griffin Place facility, which will include a new
and expanded Food Bank, as well as our Warming Center and the Fork and SpoonHomestyle Kitchen. These new facilities are critical for HRDC and the people we
serve for a number of reasons, as follows:.
This facility will provide a one-stop shop for those who are seeking assistance
with shelter, food, and the assistance they need to get back to self-sufficiency.
An expanded Food Bank will allow for an increased efficiency in storing food, as
well as make it more efficient for our customers to "shop" for their food, while
providing new space for educational programs on how clients/customers can
prepare healthy meals.
With the Fork & Spoon Kitchen at the Griffin location, efficiencies will be gained,
as the Fork & Spoon often uses food from the Food Bank.
While the benefits of the Griffin Place facility were obvious before the COVID-19
pandemic, the potential value to the community of these facilities have only increased
since the pandemic hit. Therefore, it is vital that you ensure that the improvements on
Griffin Drive occur during this next summer, and guarantee that HRDC's Griffin Placeproject can move ahead. Any delay to the scheduled improvements on Griffin Drive
will negatively impact the most vulernable citizens in our community.
If you have any questions regarding this issue, please feel free to contact me to
discuss this vital matter further.
Sincerely,
David Kack, Chair
