Dear Commission members:
I am writing today to briefly state my strong support for both of the City trail-related action items on
tonight's agenda. As you know, public trails and open space become an ever more important feature both
as a recreational amenity essential to Bozeman's quality of life, and also as a viable transportation alternate
to motor vehicle travel through the city. The strong public support for trails and open space is evidenced by
support for the funding initiative passed last year.
On Action Item #2, I urge you to support additional funding for the Front Street connector trail, and move
toward completion of this vital link in the Northeast Neighborhood. As a resident of that neighborhood, I
believe the Front Street link will be pivotal in opening up viable pedestrian access throughout the
neighborhood and to newly developed areas such as the Cannery District and the under-construction Public
Safety complex. Completion of this route will be good for business, good for public safety and good for the
city.
Similarly, I urge you to support Action Item #4, funding additional work toward creating east-west
connectivity in the City trail system. While the City has done commendable work in creating a trail network,
a quick glance at a map shows the system is fragmented and lacks connectivity. It is vital to improve the
connectivity and incorporate the rapidly growing western portion of the city into the network.
Thank you for your consideration, and for your work toward helping Bozeman stay livable as it grows.
Sincerely,
Edward Wood
