I most certainly have done so in the past as the Executive Director and Chair of GAP and will direct all others representing our non-profit group to do similarly on matters directly related to GAP and the MDT. We would like to remind you of the following regarding the path that we are pursuing funding for: – All construction of new pathway as currently proposed will take place entirely within the city limits of the City of Bozeman. – The proposed path safely originates on the eastern end by connecting to the “Main Street to the Mountains” trail system (near N 7th) and ends at the western end by attaching to the already built Nelson Meadows Subdivision pathway with a final destination of the already built Valley Center Pathway. – Any “overarching” long range plans to connect with the City of Belgrade along old U.S. 10 are already included in the Bozeman and Belgrade master plans along with the MDT Corridor Study. Additionally, Gallatin County has indicated that it will include it in their new Transportation Master Plan and the “Triangle Trails” plan both of which are underway. In regard to Mr. Tooley’s request for a planning study, could you please send us examples of the type of study he is requesting? We need to understand what has been done in the past, what level of detail is expected, and why GAP is the appropriate entity to coordinate such an overall plan. We have not been able to find any such references for Separated Pathways in MDT policy documents. Thank you for your help and consideration.
