Thompson - Library snow plowing contractFrom:George Thompson To:Agenda Subject:Library snow plowing contract Date:Monday, October 12, 2020 11:52:59 AM Oct 12, 2020 RE: Authorize the City Manager to Sign a Professional Services Agreement with All ValleyLandscaping LLC for Snow Removal Service at the Public Library (Gray) Mayor Andrus and Commissioners: I am expressing caution, and would simply reject any contractual agreement with All ValleyLandscaping. Having entered into an agreement with All-Valley for construction of a simple retaining wall and gravel driveway, owner Mick Derzay ignored the agreement for construction of stairs parallel to basement and retaining wall perpendicular to house. Consequently building aretaining wall which reduced my driveway width by four feet. His technical engineeringknowledge is totally lacking as when he told me that fence posts only need to be set 2 feet into the ground and concrete is at 100% strength by the next day. When confronted about not following the agreement he said I could do the work myself. Great, I am 67 years old. While snow-plowing is something anyone could do, I would caution the City that anycomplaints about All-Valley’s job performance will be met with non-compliance and hostileintimidation. Surely there are more qualified snow plowing crews in the area. The only reason to select All-Valley for any work is that no one else bid for the job. Good firms charge the same for qualitywork and respectful attitude toward their customers. Please consider re-bidding, as we don’t need to squander tax dollars on poor performingcontractors.
