Dear Commissioners Cunningham, Madgic (welcome!) Pomeroy, Wallner, and
Mayor Andrus:
I'm writing as a commuter and recreational cyclist of 20+ years to urge you to
allocate at least $90,000 of Trails, Parks and Open Space funds for the planning and
construction of Frontage Pathway. This trail is a dream come true, and more needed
than ever with Gallatin Valley's population growth. I enjoy road and trail cycling, but am most happy when commuting on my bike: the exercise and fresh airimprove my mental health, make me feel more connected to my community, and
help offset pollution, even a little bit.
Belgrade and Four Corners are growing alongside Bozeman and other GallatinValley cities, to the extent some cyclists might fear the danger of commuting on
streets with cars. I do appreciate bike lanes on roads I share with cars, but even
better, especially for families with children, is a bike path. This Frontage Pathconnects the communities of our valley so that we see each other and the landscapeswe traverse and care with a clearer view, in the open air instead of enclosed behind
metal and glass.
Thank you for your consideration,Marilyn Guggenheim
