I am writing to express my disappointment with the City Commission in regards to your appointment of
Jennifer Madgic. While I understand Ms. Madgic is a highly qualified professional and candidate, I must
recognize the glaring public support/vote for Christopher Coburn. Mr. Coburn is qualified and is not lacking
in any area of expertise that the Commission stated they were looking for in a candidate. What is so highly
disappointing is the blatant institutionalized racism in the Commission and the racist unwillingness to
choose a highly qualified and publicly supported person of color to sit on the already dominant majority
Commission. The Commission truly missed an opportunity to demonstrate equity, inclusion and
demonstrate that value diversity in actions and not just pay lip service to it. As an active voter I cannot
imagine voting for anyone who made this demonstrative decision.
