HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-17-19 Public Comment - Intrinsik Public Comment Packet inGrinsiH A H is H I 1 E ( T ., H E 16 December 2019 City of Bozeman Planning Board 121 North Rouse Avenue Bozeman, Montana 59715 Subject:Bozeman Community Plan Update Public Comment Dear City Planning Board Members, I write today on behalf of Wake Up Inc (Christine and Kevin Huyser), a client of Intrinsik Architecture, Wake Up Inc is the owner of several parcels in proximity to the intersection of Story Mill Road and East Griffin Drive (Exhibit A.1-A.2). Review of the Draft Community Plan Future Land Use Map (FLUM) indicates significant plan category changes are proposed for these properties. Several parcels and portions of parcels on the east side of Story Mill Road are proposed to see their plan category change from Community Commercial Mixed Use to Residential Mixed Use. The attached exhibit demonstrates the scope of these proposed changes (Exhibits 6.1-13.2). As illustrated in the attached Exhibit C, we are requesting the Planning Board consider recommendations to designate the areas indicated north and south of East Griffin Drive as Community Commercial Mixed Use. Such a designation would allow for future site development to compliment the adjacent Story Mill and Park, and the proposed Bridger View redevelopment project. Moreover, this reclassification bolsters the City's efforts to foster creative and thoughtful community infill development in alignment with the current and future character of the surrounding neighborhood. While today we write on behalf of Wake Up Inc, this request likewise promotes sound community planning in alignment with the City's plans and policies. It is for these reasons that we are submitting public comment in advance of the Planning Board's recommendation to City Commission regarding the Future Land Use Map.
