The residents and business owners of Bozeman were extremely concerned when Black Lives Matters
marched through the City, wondering if their business was going to be burned to the ground. Businesses
that have struggled to survive particularly during the COVID crisis. Black Lives Matters and Chris Coburn
openly support Defunding the Police. Chris Coburn's campaign ad openly contains a link to train his
supporters on how they can learn how to defund the police. Both political parties support Sheriff Gootkin
and the police in Bozeman and want a strong police department for our safety. People and businesses look
to our Bozeman Police Department and its officers serve in various capacities including bike officers, traffic
officers, drug recognition experts, court officers and crisis intervention officers. Numerous detectives serve
as drug detectives, property crimes detectives, crimes against persons, school resource officers and
community resource officers. There are also civilian support staff that help serve citizens, evidence
technicians, animal control officers, digital forensics technicians, crash investigators and fleet maintenance
specialists. These officers and volunteers serve our community with integrity by assisting us in our daily
lives. Any applicant/candidate for City Commission that supports Defunding the Police, has no business
and/or strong finance experience should be automatically eliminated. Chris Coburn is not the right
candidate for our City Commission.
