Regarding Chris Coburn and his consideration for appointment to the Bozeman City Commission - or for
anyone seeking appointment: any person who actively seeks to DEFUND THE POLICE in our community
should not have a seat at the table. The focus must be on improving the relationships between police and
community, improving training, etc. How will less funding improve these things? No one has answered that
question - or even discusses it. Who do we call with emergencies, accidents, domestic violence issues? 9-1-
1. Who responds? The police. They're good enough when we need them. And now they're under attack
because of a few bad cops. And their actions are being judged based on cell phone videos that show a
different perspective in slow motion. The #1 video that should be used to judge police/community
engagement should be the police cam - same view, in real-time, as the police officer's in which he/she has
to make split second decisions that may result in injury or death. Again, any candidate for City Commission
must be willing to represent all the "folks."
