Robison - Francesca Pine-Rodriguez and Christopher Coburn for City Commission VacancyFrom:Alice R To:Agenda Subject:City Commission VOTE Date:Monday, October 5, 2020 2:10:12 PM Dear CC, As a 30+year resident of the community of Bozeman I am VERY concerned about who the next city commissioner will be. As you all are aware a person of color is NECESSARY and important to put on the commission. The many meetings i have attended over the years I have said to myself and others: "What is missing is a person of color here." Bozeman, like all cities across the US, are at a turning point. It is no longer an option to just put people on the city commission that are from immigrant, white Northern European descent because it is not representative of the people who live in Bozeman. Growth in Bozeman causes a lot of issues and one positive result is diversity. We are moving from a Eurocentric immigrant population to diversity.. even though we are living on stolen land and the Indigenous folks whose land we live on should be invited to be on the CC... it is their land you make decisions on that does not necessarily represent their culture. Please consider and be the FIRST commission to bring in Francesca Pine- Rodriguez- a Crow Nation citizen onto the CC. To offer her a seat is support her to learn and grow into the CC seat to encourage futureleaders, like Francesca, to follow. We honor Indigenous voices and bodies! Along with Francesca I am also supporting supporting Chris Coburn to be selected. He has grown up in MT and has much insight and skills torepresent the African American folks in town so they know they have a voice. How important is this? Very. Indigernous women are missing and murdered, and African Americans are being murdered by the police.Their voices need to be heard on the Bozeman City Commission so they can help you all make smart decisions when it comes to housing, police funding, health care, education, development and open space. Be smart! Do the right thing please. Don't mess up! Thank you. Alice Robison 16 E Villard St Bozeman, MT
