To Mayor Andrus and Commissioners Pomeroy, Cunningham and Wallner,
I am writing in support of Francesca Pine-Rodriguez for the position of City Commissioner. I have known
Francesca for about eight years, since meeting her at MSU, when I worked with Francesca, and others to
convene a group to learn about City of Bozeman resources for the Native community. Later, I worked
together with Francesca, Marsha Small, my husband Carson, and others on the Indigenous People's Day
Task Force, a group we remain involved with.
I can best describe Francesca as a learner and a leader. I have seen her develop her interests in
Environmental Studies and public policy, and as a leader with Alaskan and Native student success and as a
National Fellow of Spirit Aligned. She is a sought after board member and consultant of such organizations
as the Extreme History Project, Mountain Time Arts and The Montana Racial Equity Project. Francesca is a
generous and curious person, who is eager to learn about and understand issues and perspectives and to
share her knowledge and experience.
